3 - Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka - Test Ground #33

  • First Test - January, 1, 1955 - Pakistan vs India

  • Last Test - January 14, 2005 - Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe

Thursday, October 30, 2025 - After leaving Fatullah, I headed into Dhaka City Center to visit the National Stadium, also known as the Bangabandhu National Stadium, arriving at around 1:30pm. This ground no longer hosts cricket, but focuses on football primarily.

What is interesting is that 30 years ago (almost to this day) my father, Leonard Chambers, was the Manager of the West Indies Under 19 team that toured Bangladesh for the first time in 1995. The team was coached by Gus Logie and they played all 3 of their one-day matches at this stadium.. attracting close to 30,000 spectators each time. (My father was also 53 years old then !)
